Dental Law & EthicsTitle AB239 or the NV Legislature's attempt to fix the AB474 Controlled Substance Rx writing disaster

Description: AB474 has been an unmitigated disaster that the NV Legislature continues to congratulate itself on.  Sure, CS prescriptions are down 40%, but is that because doctors are now magically writing CS more judiciously or because AB474 imposes draconian regulatory, civil, and criminal penalties?  Patients are not obtaining their CS from licensed doctors, where could their sources be now?  Why is there a pet abuse epidemic documented over the past year?  Why has the CDC issued a clarification to states whose new statutes have misused its opiate prescribing guidelines?  And finally, why does AB239 propose even more penalty sources for doctors than ever before?

Course Description: Dentists provide care in high-risk environments that make them targets in our legal system. This course will take attendees through two crucial cases,  illustrating principles of general liability, medical malpractice, and state board procedures. Attendees will learn about corporate and legal structures, where they may be personally vulnerable, which legal entities can protect personal and business assets, and how to build professional license safeguards into their legal structures.
